Details of Meeting

When: Wednesday, October 17th, 6:30pm
Where: 421 West Church St
Jacksonville, FL 32202
Topic: Parallelism with Tar & Make
Synopsis: Tar and Make are mainstay tools in an Linux users tool Kit. But what if you could speed them up? Make them faster? This talk will explain how to run these programs multi-threaded and show some benchmarks between single vs multi threading, the performance (speed and file size) between the GZIP, BZIP2, and LZMA and at each compression level, and the difference it can have on build speed of projects.
