JaxLUG now has an IRC channel. For those already familiar with IRC, here's the info.

For those unfamiliar, IRC means Internet Relay Chat. It's existence predates http itself and is one of the oldest protocols on the internet. There is an unending supply of information about IRC on the internet, so go searching if you'd like to learn more. Meanwhile, suffice to say that you need any IRC client to connect to IRC. For linux, some good recommendations might be X-Chat, irssi, and bitchx. Since the protocol is so old there are also an endless amount of clients to choose from.

Remember to enter in the "Channel" field #jaxlug
Use of the #jaxlug channel requires registration through nickname services (Nickserv). If you are unsure how to do this, here is a quick rundown of how its done. Note that you must not only be registered, but also identified in order to join the jaxlug channel.
First, be sure to have your current nickname the one you would like to register with.
Next, send a message to the services bot, NickServ in the following format.
/msg NickServ register <password> <email address>
Next check your email to verify your email.
Finally, once you've registered, in order to log in, you must issue the command identify to NickServ.
/msg NickServ identify <password>
