Topic: How to block zerodays and root pwnage with WhiteBeam
Synopsis: A year ago I gave a presentation to JaxLUG on some defensive software I created which used the previous state of the art in offensive security (LD_PRELOAD rootkits). In the process of creating it, I found a vulnerability in it -- and every other EDR/EPP/HIPS/HIDS I tested -- that required a ground up rewrite of theirs/our software. Which is what I did for a year, and in the process created a brand new powerful Linux userspace hooking framework. We'll login to a server with some Linux security software built on it running and test it out live, then we'll take a look under the hood to show how it works, discuss what support currently exists and what's coming, and even watch real attacks against it with some honeypots I set up to give attackers root and record new sessions.
